Men's Basketball Loses to IUP

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team suffered a 98-69 loss to 12th-ranked Indiana (Pa.) at the Nelson Field House Saturday afternoon.
G.J Macon of Indiana (Pa.) scored two of his 11 points just nine seconds into the game and the Indians would never look back. Leading by just a 9-6 score, the Indians blew the game open with a 17-0 run early in the first half to push the lead to 26-6. Eddie Peterson, who scored seven points during that time, got the scoring run started for the Indians driving to the basket to score two of his game-high 25 points with 16:19 left in the half.
Indiana (Pa.) would ultimately close the door on the Huskies going on a 14-4 run to open the second half of play to open a 67-33 lead.
The Huskies picked up their offensive play in the second half with Mike Cheatle (Lower Gwynedd/Hatboro-Horsham) and Buddy Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum) each turning in career-high performances with 19 points a piece. Andrew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney) scored 14 points with John Owens (Philadelphia/Abington Friends) also reaching double-digits for the Huskies with 10 points to go along with a team-high five assists.
Ayyub Ali posted a double-double for the Indians scoring 16 points to go along with 12 boards. Brian Kizzie had 11 assists, while coming up with three steals.
With the loss, the Huskies drop to 3-12 on the season, while Indiana (Pa.) improves to 14-2 and has now won 10 straight games.
Bloomsburg will next be in action tomorrow at 3 p.m. as they play host to Lock Haven at Nelson Field House.
