Bloomsburg Loses in Men's Basketball

KUTZTOWN —The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Kutztown University, 81-56, on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Bears led from start to finish in the game and used a 28-5 run over a 10-minute stretch of the first half to take a 35-9 lead with 5:16 left in the half. Kutztown's Bilal Salaam led the rally with nine points.

In the second half, the Huskies chipped the lead down to 18 points, 57-39, on a three-pointer from Andrew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney), but the Golden Bears then scored six straight points to push the lead back to 24 points. The Huskies got no closer than 21 points the rest of the way.

Bloomsburg, 4-13, 0-2 in the PSAC East, got 12 points from Jerry, 11 points and a career-high 15 rebounds from Buddy Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum) and 11 points from Bob Nenstiel (Nuremburg/Weatherly).

Kutztown, 10-5, 2-0 in the PSAC East, was led by Bobby Eberhart with 15 points, while Salaam added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Huskies host Cheyney on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
