Bloomsburg Falls to Mansfield in Men's Basketball Action

MANSFIELD —The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Mansfield University, 104-65, Wednesday in PSAC Eastern Division action. The game was called with 1:32 to play after the Huskies' Buddy Rose suffered an injury after diving to the floor going for a loose ball. Rose was transported from the site to a local hospital. There is no word on his condition at this time.
The Mountaineers led from start to finish in the game, but did not pull away until midway through the first half. Bloomsburg had pulled to within 25-21 with 9:04 left in the half after a three-pointer from Andrew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney). The Mounties, though, used a 16-4 run over the next four minutes to stretch their lead to 41-25 after a three-pointer from Brandon DeShields.
Leading by 15 points at halftime, the Mountaineers started the second half with 17-4 run to take a 70-42 lead after a pair of free throws from Jason Benson with 13:32 to play in the game. The Huskies would get no closer than 24 the rest of the way before the game was halted.
Bloomsburg, 5-14, 1-3 PSAC East, got 15 points from Andrew Jerry, while Buddy Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum) added 12 and John Owens (Philadelphia/Abington Friends) 10 points.
Mansfield, 9-9, 2-1 PSAC East, got 32 points from Brandon DeShields, while Carlos Collazo added 16 points and David Hoopes 13.
Bloomsburg is idle till Feb. 2nd when it hosts West Chester at 7:30 p.m.
