Bloomsburg Loses in Men's Basketball Action

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Millersville University, 88-74, in the season-finale on Saturday night.

After Millersville opened the game by scoring five straight points, the Huskies came back took a 9-8 lead after a free throw from Billy Bryan at the 17:14 mark of the period. Millersville then outscored Bloomsburg 12-2 over the next several minutes to grab a 20-11 lead with 14:23 left in the half.

Millersville would later push the lead to 13 points, 26-13, before a three-pointer from Mike Cheatle (North Wales/Hatboro-Horsham), and layups from Jeremiah Long (Mifflinburg/Mifflinburg) and Ernest Cherry (St. Lucia) cut the deficit back to seven, 27-20, with 9:47 left in the half.

Later, with Millersville in front, 39-28, the Marauders used a 13-2 run to push the lead to 20 points, 51-31, right before halftime.

In the second half of action, the Huskies rallied once more and got within eight points, 60-52, with 13:19 left in the game. Bloomsburg rallied with the help of two three-pointers each by Ryan Nenstiel (Nuremberg/Weatherly) and Andrew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney) and four points from Billy Bryan (Denver/Holy Name).

Millersville, though, outscored the Huskies 9-3 over the next two minutes to push the lead back to 14 points. Bloomsburg would get no closer than nine points the rest of the as the Marauders maintained a double digit lead for much of the final 10 minutes of the game.

Leading Bloomsburg in scoring was Jerry with 14 points, while Billy Bryan added 11 and Ryan Nenstiel 11.

Millersville, 20-6, 8-4 in the PSAC East, was led in scoring by Charles Parker with 24 points, while Greg Testa added 17.

Bloomsburg ends its season at 6-21, 2-10 in the PSAC East.
