Men's Basketball Falls to West Chester

BLOOMSBURG—Lenwood Greenwood and Aaron Williams both had double doubles as West Chester University defeated Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play, 71-51, on Wednesday night.
The Huskies jumped out to a quick 6-4 lead as Mike Cheatle (Lower Gwynedd/Hatboro-Horsham) nailed back-to-back three-pointers early in the game. West Chester then took a 7-6 lead on a Matt Kurtz three-pointer and never trailed the rest of the way. The Golden Rams extended their lead to 15-8 in the first half before a Cheatle jumper and a Bob Nenstiel (Nuremburg/Weatherly) lay-up cut the deficit to three at 15-12. West Chester than went on a 17-9 run to extended their lead to 32-21 with 1:42 to play in the first half.
The Golden Rams came out hot in the second half, surging to a 61-32 lead with a 27-8 run to start the period. West Chester led by as many as 22 before the Huskies trimmed the deficit to 20 at the final buzzer.
Williams led the way for West Chester with 15 points and 18 rebounds while Greenwood added 15 points and 10 boards. Along with Greenwood and Williams, Shawn Werdt had a solid night, scoring 13 points while Matt Kurtz rounded out the double figure scorers for West Chester with 10.
Cheatle led the way for Bloomsburg, scoring 11 points while Bob Nenstiel added 10 points for the Huskies in a losing effort. Billy Bryan (Denver/Holy Name) added nine points and seven rebounds while John Owens (Philadelphia/Abington Friends) chipped in with nine points.
The Huskies, 5-15, 1-4 in the PSAC East, will visit Millersville on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
