Bloomsburg's Jefferson and Bryan Awarded All-Conference Honors
BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University men's basketball players Matt Jefferson (Philadelphia/ George Washington) and Billy Bryan (Denver/ Holy Name) have each been named to the 2005-06 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division team. Jefferson was named to the All-PSAC East first team, while Bryan was named to the second team.
Jefferson, a 6-6 junior forward, was the Huskies most dominant player this season. He led the Huskies in several categories, including points (516), points per game (19.1), rebounds per game, (6.9), and blocked shots per game (1.5). Jefferson also ranked seventh in the PSAC in scoring average, 11th in rebounding, and seventh in blocked shots. In addition, Jefferson scored 30 plus points in six games this season, including the final four games of the year. He was named PSAC Player of the Week during the final week of the regular season when he averaged 32 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks for the week. He also scored a career-high 35 points this season on opening day in an 87-85 win over Pitt-Johnstown.
Bryan, a 6-4 junior forward and the Huskies captain, was Bloomsburg's most consistent player during the year. Bryan averaged 15.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season, which ranked 15th and 16th in the PSAC respectively and scored in double-digits in 22 of the 27 games played. Bryan's best game came in an 83-78 overtime win over Millersville in which he scored 23 points on 10-17 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds. Bryan then followed that up in the next game with a career-high 24 points in a loss to East Stroudsburg.
Joining Jefferson on the first team is Charlie Parker and Greg Testa from Millersville, Brandon DeShields of Mansfield, Kutztown's Bruce Hall and East Stroudsburg's Danny Hargrove.
Joining Bryan on the second team is Kutztown's Ben Arnold, Mansfield's David Hoopes, and Donnell Butler, Mark Gerhart, and Aaron Williams of West Chester
