Bloomsburg Men's Basketball Falls to Bowie State

BLOOMSBURG - Despite four players scoring in double figures, the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team dropped an 82-69 contest to the Bowie State Bulldogs on Tuesday night.
The Huskies had the early advantage, with Mike Cheatle (North Wales/Hatboro-Horsham) draining three three-pointers for 11 first half points. However, Bowie State put together a 14-5 run making the score 26-21 in favor of the Bulldogs at the half.
Bowie State continued its high-powered offense in the second half, leading by as much as 19 points. The Huskies cut the lead to 53-43 with eight minutes to play, but the Bulldogs answered back, making the final score 82-69.
Derick Payne led Bowie State with a game-high 25 points while Thomas Hawkins added 21.
For Bloomsburg, Cheatle finished with 18 points, Billy Bryan (Denver/Holy Name) netted 13, Derek Daniels (Baltimore, MD/Coppin State) scored 12 and Marion Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum) added 11 to round out the scoring.
Ernest Cherry (Babonneau, St. Lucia/St. Mary's) pulled down a career high and season high 13 rebounds for the Huskies.
