Bloomsburg Falls to Cheyney in Men's Basketball

CHEYNEY - The Bloomsburg University men's basketball lost to Cheyney University, 63-57, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action on Saturday.

The Huskies and Wolves traded leads through the first seven minutes of the game before the Huskies took a four –point lead, 14-10, on a three-pointer by Mike Cheatle (North Wales/Hatboro-Horsham). Cheyney then put together an 8-0 run over the next six minutes to go in front 18-14 with 5:57 to play in the opening half.

Leading by a score of 29-24 at halftime, Cheyney extended its lead to seven points early in the second half and maintained the lead till the 7:14 mark when Bloomsburg tied the score at 46 on a free throw by Seve Cunningham (Wrightsville/Eastern York).

Cheyney then went on a 10-2 run to take a 56-48 lead with 3:04 to play. Bloomsburg got no closer than five points the rest of the way as the Wolves hit four of six free throws in the final minute and a half to seal the win.

Matt Jefferson (Philadelphia/Engineering and Science) led the Huskies (4-14, 0-3 PSAC East) with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Marion Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum) added 14 points and Cheatle 10 in the loss.

Sean King led Cheyney (6-10, 1-2 PSAC East) with 13 points, while Jerron McCiskill and Ognjen Bravo scored 11 points each.

The Huskies host Mansfield on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.
