Bloomsburg Men's Basketball Drops Consolation Game to Holy Family

BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg's Matt Jefferson (Philadelphia/ Engineering & Science) scored a game high 31 points and also grabbed seven rebounds but it was not enough as the Huskies fell to Holy Family 80-68 in the consolation game of the Bowie State Bulldog Classic.

Holy Family's excellent shooting was the key to the Tigers victory. Holy Family shot 66 percent in the first half and jumped out to a 41-26 lead going into the half. For the game, the Tigers shot 58 percent. Ryan Haigh scored 19 points to lead Holy Family. Ryan Lancaster also scored 14 points and had 6 rebounds.

Marion Rose (Phialdelphia/ Mastbaum), Billy Bryan (Denver/ Holy Name), and Mike Cheatle (Lower Gwynedd/ Hatboro-Horsham) each had eight points for the Huskies.

Jefferson was named to the "All-Classic" team along with Derick Payne and Brent Campbell of Bowie State, Ryan Haigh of Holy Family, and Michael Sessions of Dowling College. For the tournament, Jefferson averaged 19 points, six rebounds and shot 45 percent from the field.

Bowie State defeated Dowling 90-71 in the championship game. The Huskies return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Mercyhurst at 8 p.m.
