Bloomsburg Loses to Mercyhurst in Men's Basketball

Box Score

ERIE —The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Mercyhurst College on Tuesday night, 69-48, in a non-conference matchup.

The Lakers (4-0) jumped out to an early 11-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game behind seven points from Mitch Brennan. After the home team extended its lead to 20-3 at the 11:40 mark of the first half, the Huskies mounted a rally. Bloomsburg then used an 18-11 run to close the gap back to 10 points, 31-21, with 2:46 to play in the half after a layup from Ernest Cherry (St. Lucia). For the Huskies, Matt Jefferson (Philadelphia/Geo. Washington) scored seven points in the rally.

That would be as close as the Huskies would get, though. After the Lakers extended the lead to 37-23 at the break, Mercyhurst used a 10-2 run to open the half and push the lead to 22 points.

The Huskies (1-3) were led by Jefferson with 19 points, while Marion Rose added nine points. Mercyhurst got 16 points from Brennan and 11 points from Avi Fogel.

Bloomsburg will be back in action on Nov. 30th at Pitt-Johnstown starting at 7:30 p.m.
