BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University men's basketball players Matt Jefferson (Philadelphia/ George Washington) and Billy Bryan (Denver/ Holy name) have been named to the 2006-07 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Second Team.
Jefferson, a senior forward, led the Huskies in points per game (14.5), rebounds per game (6.6), steals (38) and blocked shots (28). Jefferson also ranked 13th in the PSAC in scoring, 12th in rebounding and ninth in blocks. He scored in double figures 20 out of 24 games and registered five double-doubles. Earlier this season, in an 85-82 loss at West Chester, Jefferson became the 23rd player in school history to score 1,000 points for his career. His 1,114 career points rank 17th in school history, while is 110 career blocks are second all-time. Jefferson was an All-PSAC East First-Team selection last season.
Bryan, a senior forward, was second on the team in scoring (10.6 ppg), rebounding (5.5 rbg), assists (1.7 apg) and blocked shots (17). His .562 field goal percentage (113-201) led the team and ranked seventh in the PSAC. Bryan was also named PSAC East Player of the Week for the period ending February 11. During that week, Bryan averaged 15 points and six boards, while leading the Huskies to a come-from-behind 82-80 win over Kutztown on February 10. Bryan was also named to the All-PSAC East Second-Team last season. He finished his career with 901 points and 401 rebounds.
Bryan and Jefferson, the co-captains of the 2006-07 squad, helped lead the Huskies to a 13-14 record, their best year since the 2001-02 season.
