Huskies Fall to Lock Haven Wednesday Night

LOCK HAVEN--Lock Haven rallied from a 20-point halftime deficit to beat Bloomsburg University to post an 80-69 win over the 23rd-ranked Huskies on Wednesday night.

Trailing 40-20 at halftime, the Bald Eagles came out of the locker room and outscored the Huskies, 21-8 in the first seven minutes of play to get within seven points, 48-41. Billy Arre helped lead the rally with seven points. Later, after the Huskies got the lead back to 51-41 on a jumper from Jeremiah Long (New Columbia/Mifflinburg) a free throw from Drew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney), Lock Haven used a run of 19-5 to take a four point lead at 60-56. It was Justin Wilson's layup with 7:25 to play which gave the home team its first lead of the game.

In the final two minutes, though, Lock Haven helped seal its win with strong free throw shooting hitting of 11 of 14 shots.

The Huskies started quickly in the game opening a 17-4 lead in the first five minutes of play. Matt Jefferson (Philadelphia/George Washington) scored seven points in the fast start, while Long added another five points. Lock Haven later cut the Huskies lead to seven points, 17-10, on a pair of free throws from Arre. But, Bloomsburg would respond with a 17-2 run to break the game wide open and give the Huskies a 34-17 lead with 7:44 left in the half. The Huskies would later push its advantage to 24 points, 40-16, on a three-pointer from Jerry, before taking the 20-point lead into the locker room.

Leading the Huskies (6-3) in scoring was Niko Traykov (Bulgaria) with 17 points, while Jefferson and Jerry each added 13 points. Lock Haven (3-7) got 32 points from Arre, while James Chappell added 23 points with Wilson and Jeff Eveillard each scored 10 points.
