Men's Basketball Falls to Cheyney

BLOOMSBURG -The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team fell to the Wolves of Cheyney University 85-63 Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division matchup. Four players scored in double figures to lead the Huskies, who fall to 8-8 overall, 0-2 in the PSAC East.

The Huskies took an early three point lead when Jon DeJesus (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg North) hit one of his three made three-pointers on the afternoon to give the Huskies an 11-7 advantage at 16:42 mark of the first half. Cheyney would then cut the lead down to one point, but a three-point play by Niko Traykov (Bulgaria/Lebanon, Pa.) gave Bloomsburg a 19-15 lead with 10:15 remaining in the first period.

Cheyney would respond with a 9-4 run to take a 24- 19 lead with 6:24 left in the first. However, The Huskies would answer when Drew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney) and DeJesus hit consecutive threes to retake the lead, 25-24 with 5:41 remaining in the first half. Cheyney would swing the momentum yet again, closing the half on a 14-7 run to take a 40-33 lead into halftime.

In the second half, an emphatic dunk by Jeremiah Long (New Columbia/Mifflinburg) cut the lead to nine with 16:09 remaining, but from there the Wolves would pull away. A Edwin Braswell three and a pair of Robbie Simpson lay-ups put Cheyney in the driver's seat for good.

The Huskies were led by Jerry, DeJesus and Nick Jones (Rosedale, NY/Hillcrest), all of whom had 12 points, while Traykov added 10 points as well.

The Huskies return to action on Wednesday Night when they travel to East Stroudsburg. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
