Bloomsburg Men's Basketball Loses at Edinboro

EDINBORO--Nick Jones (Rosedale, NY/Hillcrest) scored a game-high 26 points, but the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Edinboro on Sunday by a score of 82-69 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) cross-over game.

Bloomsburg was locked in a tight game with the Fighting Scots trailing 18-14 after Jeremiah Long (New Columbia/Mifflinburg) hit a jumper with 7:38 to play in the first half. Edinboro then went on a 24-9 run to close out the first half and lead by 19 at the break, 42-23.

In the second half a Nick Jones bucket cut the deficit to 12 points, 44-32, with 17:05 to play. Edinboro, though, pushed the lead back to 19 points, 53-34, with 12:09 left in the game. Later with the Huskies trailing by 10, 70-60, with 3:02 to play, Bloomsburg went on a 7-2 run to close the gap down to five points, 72-67, with 1:27 to play.

But, the Huskies hit just one of four shot attempts in the final 1:27 and Edinboro outscored Bloomsburg, 10-2 to win by 13, 82-69.

Jones hit 26 points for the Huskies, now 8-6, with Drew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney) scoring 11 and Buddy Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum Tech) getting 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Edinboro, now 10-4, got 20 points and 11 rebounds from Gerald Warrick, while Joseph Jones added 15 points. Ryan McLemore tied a PSAC record with 11 blocked shots.

Bloomsburg will host Millersville on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
