Bloomsburg University Falls to East Stroudsburg in Men's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University men's basketball, with just seven players in uniform due to injuries, lost to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night by a score of 76-53.
The Huskies were hanging tough in the opening 14 minutes of play trailing by a score of just 17-14 after a layup from Buddy Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum Tech) and a three-pointer from Niko Traykov (Bulgaria) with 6:48 to play in the half. The Warriors, though, went on an 8-0 run to grab a 25-14 lead with 2:43 left in the half.
Then with 1:36 to play in the period, East Stroudsburg's Channon Easley, the team's leading scorer, committed an intentional foul and was ejected from the game. Traykov hit one of two free throws and the Huskies went into the break down by just seven, 26-19.
In the second half, the Warriors opened up with a run of 7-0 and 13-2 to make it an 18-point lead behind the strong play of Chris Bach who took over in the low post for Easley. Bach had six of the first 13 points for ESU in the first five minutes of play. Bloomsburg could get no closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
Bloomsburg got 13 points from Nick Jones (Rosedale, NY/Hillcrest), while John Allen (Hatfield/North Penn) added 11 points. East Stroudsburg got 28 points from Bach, who also added nine rebounds, while Josh Wentz chipped in with 14.
The Huskies, 8-16, 0-10 in the PSAC East, play a non-conference game on Saturday with DeSales University starting at 3 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.
