Bloomsburg Falls to Kutztown in Men's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Kutztown University on Saturday by a score of 67-52.

The teams battled on even terms for the five minutes of the game before the Golden Bears used a 20-4 run to grab a 26-10 lead with 5:51 to play in the first half. Bloomsburg narrowed the gap to nine at halftime with an 11-4 run of its own to make it 30-21 at the break. Leading the rally was Drew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney) with four points, while Buddy Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum Tech) hit a three-pointer for the Huskies.

Kutztown opened the second half with a 12-4 run to take its biggest lead of the game to that point at 42-25. The Huskies, though, fought back with a 8-0 run to be within eight, 47-39, with 9:55 to play. Rose started the rally with a layup and Nick Jones (Rosedale, NY/Hillcrest) finished the run with a pair of free throws.

But, the Golden Bears came back with a 16-3 rally and put the game out of reach at 62-43 and settled for a 15-point win.

Jones finished with 16 points for the Huskies, while John Allen (Hatfield/North Penn) added 12 and a career-high nine rebounds. Kutztown, now 12-5, 4-0 in the PSAC East, got Andre Woodlin was led by Andrew Woodlin with 14, while Dave Ben and Ryan Washington each added 12.

Bloomsburg, 8-10, 0-4 in the PSAC East, will play at West Chester on Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
