Jones Leads Huskies to Win

BLOOMSBURG-- Nick Jones (Rosedale, NY/Hillcrest) scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team to a 69-51 win over Penn State-Hazleton on Thursday night at the Nelson Field House.
Jones was one of three players in doubles figures for the Huskies with Adon El (Philadelphia/St. John Neumann) getting 16 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots, while Niko Traykov (Bulgaria) added 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Huskies led early 12-0 behind six points from El before Penn State-Hazleton fought back and closed the gap to six, 30-24, with 1:50 to go in the half and at the break at 32-26.
In the second half, with the Huskies holding a seven points, 39-32, Bloomsburg put together an 18-4 run over a six minute to break the game open. Jones and Buddy Rose (Philadelphia/Mastbaum Tech) each scored points in the rally. The Nittany Lions got no closer than 16 points, 60-44, the rest of the way.
Penn State-Hazleton was led by Abe Akinyemi with 14 points.
Bloomsburg plays at IUP on Saturday at 3 p.m.
