Allen Scores Career-High in Win

BLOOMSBURG--John Allen (Hatfield/North Penn) scored a career-high 15 points to lead the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team to a 57-51 win over Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday night at the Nelson Field House.
Allen and Niko Traykov (Bulgaria) helped the Huskies get off to an early 10-point lead in the game, 17-7, with just seven minutes gone in the contest. Traykov scored five early points with Allen adding four.
Pitt-Johnstown roared back and tied the game at 23-23 with 4:01 to play in the half on a three-pointer by Danny Branch. The Mountain Cats then took a 25-24 lead, their first lead since the early moments of the game on a bucket by William Sharpe with 2:49 to play. The Huskies, though, closed out the half on a 5-2 run and led by two at the break, 29-27.
After UPJ tied the score at 33-all with 17:11 to play, the Huskies used a 9-1 run, capped by a dunk from Adon El (Philadelphia/St. John Neumann), to go in front by eight, 42-34. Later, the Huskies extended the lead to nine points on a three-pointer from Nick Jones (Rosedale, NY/Hillcrest) with 9:38 to play.
The Mountain Cats, then took rallied and cut the deficit to three, 51-48, with 2:50 to play, byu El and Allen hit back-to-back baskets for a 55-48 Bloomsburg lead with 1:50 to play. UPJ, did get back to within four, 55-51, with less than a minute to play, but that would be as close as they would come.
Along with Allen's 15 points, El finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots for Bloomsburg, which improved to 4-3 on the season. Marcus Tullis scored a game-high 21 points for Pitt-Johnstown, now 3-3.
Bloomsburg plays at Davis and Elkins on Saturday at 3 p.m.
