Huskies Drop PSAC East Opener

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Cheyney on Wednesday night by a score of 64-44 in the opener of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division schedule.

Bloomsburg held a 9-8 lead in the game with 13:34 to play after three-pointer by Ronnie Benson (Harleysville/Souderton Area). The Wolves then went on a 12-2 run to grab a 20-11 lead with 6:25 left in the half. The Huskies would get the lead down to eight points on a three-pointer from Jordan Wartman (Mahanoy City/Mahanoy Area) with 3:43 to go in the first half, but Cheyney was able to stretch its lead to 12 at halftime.

Cheyney would break the game open for good at the start of the second half using a 17-2 run over the first eight minutes to lead 47-20.

Ruben Britt (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) scored 15 for the Huskies, while Benson added 13. Domique Curry led Cheyney, now 8-4, with 11 points.

Bloomsburg plays at West Chester on Saturday at 3 p.m.
