Betar Scores 19 in Bloomsburg University Men's Basketball Loss

EAST STROUDSBURG -- Despite a career-high 19 points from Jesse Betar (Altoona/Altoona) the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost 79-65 to East Stroudsburg in men's basketball action.
In the early going the Huskies controlled play and led 12-6 with Betar scoring seven points for Bloomsburg in the first four minutes of the game. The Warriors rallied using a 16-5 run to go in front 22-17 with 10:18 left in the half. Bloomsburg came back with a 7-0 run capped by a three-pointer from Ronnie Benson (Harleysville/Souderton) to briefly regain the lead at 24-22, but the Warriors finished the half on a 24-10 run to lead 46-34 at the break.
In the second half the Huskies trailed by as many as 17 points before coming back and cutting the deficit to 10 points on two occasions, the last coming with 2:11 to go on a three-pointer from Michael Varanavage (Philadelphia/Archbishop Wood).
Betar led Bloomsburg with 19 points and also added four assists. Benson chipped in with 10 points, while Dan Hoover (Lansdale/North Penn) scored nine. East Stroudsburg got 15 points from Dawud Lyons in the win.
Bloomsburg will host Millersville on Saturday at 3 p.m.
