Bloomsburg Men's Basketball Defeated by Gannon

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team fell to Gannon University on Saturday afternoon by a score of 82-45.
The two teams battled to a defensive stalemate over the first ten minutes of the first half, as the two teams combined for only eight points in the first seven-and-a-half minutes. Gannon built a 31-6 lead over the first 18 minutes of the first before the Huskies found their rhythm. Michael Varanavage (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) hit a three-pointer and Ruben Britt (Vorhees, NJ/Coppin State) hit two free throws to cut the Gannon lead to 35-11 at halftime.
In the second half, the Huskies could come no closer, as Gannon would extend their lead to as many as 40 points.
Varanavage led the Huskies offensively scoring 16 points, while Marko Vucajnk (Slovenia/Marist) pulled down six rebounds. Pierre Howard led Gannon with 16 points. With the loss, Bloomsburg falls to 3-9 on the season.
Bloomsburg returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Clarion. Tip-ff is set for 3:00 p.m.
