Bloomsburg Men's Basketball Falls to Kutztown

BLOOMSBURG-Despite 13 points and 14 rebounds from Larry Webster (Elkton, MD/Elkton) , the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost 88-63 to Kutztown on Saturday night.

Kutztown took the lead early in the first half and went on a 10-0 run in 3:26 to take a 16-point lead with 5:13 left to play. Kutztown led by 15 points at the half, 45-30.

In the second half, Kutztown would extend their lead to as many as 31 points before Bloomsburg would draw within 25 to close out the game, 88-63.

Jesse Betar (Altoona/Altoona) scored 10 points for the Huskies, while Michael Varanavage (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) had nine. Ronnie Benson (Harleysville/Souderton Area) and Drew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney) each chipped in with eight.

Kutztown's Dave Ben scored 31 points, while Stephen Dennis added 20.

With the loss, Bloomsburg falls to 4-15, 1-5 in the PSAC East.

Bloomsburg will travel to Mansfield on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
