Bloomsburg University Men's Basketball Defeated by Slippery Rock

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team defeated by Slippery Rock on Saturday evening by a score of 81-69.
The Huskies raced out to an 11-5 lead over the first three minutes of the first half. With Bloomsburg leading 6-5, Ruben Britt (Vorheees, NJ/Coppin State) hit a lay-up and a three pointer on consecutive possessions to key the early advantage. The Huskies would extened their lead to 18-11 when Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD/Snow Hill) hit a lay-up with 11:49 left in the first half.
After a Slippery Rock rally that cut the Bloomsburg lead to two with three-and-a-half minutes left in the first period, Ronnie Benson (Harleysville/Souderton) connected on a three-pointer to give the Huskies a five-point advantage, 34-29. Slippery Rock responded with a 10-2 run over the next 2:45 to take a 39-36 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Slippery Rock built on their momentum from the end of the first half, going on an 18-9 run over the first seven minutes. The Huskies would not come any closer than 11 points the rest of the way, as Slippery Rock's Denell Stevens scored 17 second-half points to seal the victory for the Rock.
Larry Webster (Elkton, MD/Elkton) led the way for Bloomsburg, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Britt and Johnson both added 16 for the Huskies. Stephens led the Rock with 22 points.
With the loss, The Huskies fall to 2-5 on the season.
The Huskies return to action on Sunday, December 14 when they host Goldley-Beacom College. That game tips off at 3 p.m.
