Bloomsburg Men's Basketball Falls to Pitt-Johnstown

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team fell to 20th -ranked Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday evening by a score of 95-73.

The Mountain Cats raced out to a 17-4 lead over the first four minutes of the game. UPJ would extend that lead to as many as 25 points with six minutes remaining in the first half before Bloomsburg cut into the lead. Ronnie Benson (Harleysville/Souderton) and Ruben Britt (Vorhees, NJ/Coppin State) connected on back-to-back threes to cut the Mountain Cat lead to 17, 48-31 with 1:38 remaining in the first half. UPJ would take a 52-33 lead into the break.

In the second half, Bloomsburg could not cut into the UPJ lead, as the Mountain Cats outscored the Huskies in the second period 43-37.

Britt led the Huskies offense scoring 21 points, while Larry Webster (Elkton, Md/Elkton) scored 17 points to go along with eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Quinton Davis scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Mountain Cats.

With the loss, the Huskies fall to 2-3 overall on the season.

The Huskies return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to Wilmington (Del.) College. That game tips off at 7 p.m.
