Bloomsburg Falls to Bridgeport in Men's Soccer

BRIDGEPORT, CT— Greg Pompei (Andover, NJ/Newtown) scored two goals but it wasn't enough as Bloomsburg University lost to the University of Bridgeport, 4-2, in men's soccer action Saturday.

Bridgeport took 1-0 lead at the break on a goal by Sana Sarr, then extended the margin to 2-0 early in the second half on a goal by Cheikh Diop.

Pompei then put the Huskies on the board with a goal at the 56:50 mark off an assist from Venus Cherry. Bridgeport then made it 3-1 when David Tuesta scored at 69 minutes for the home team.

The Huskies' Pompei then cut the deficit to 3-2 with a penalty kick with 13 minutes to play in the game. It was the second straight game Pompei had connected on a penalty kick.

However, Bridgeport put the game away with a goal with eight minutes left in the game to win 4-2.

The Huskies, 5-7, visit Lock Haven on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
