Coach Paul Payne Releases Training Video

BLOOMSBURG-- Bloomsburg University men's soccer coach Paul Payne has just released a coaching training video through Soccer Learning Systems (SLS) titled "Coaching in the Game Methodology-Teaching Group Tactics."

This video is geared primarily to coaches working with players 15 years of age and up. Payne trained college players from the Colorado area in the video which focused on tactics. It demonstrates how to use the coaching methodology of "coaching in the game" which pretty much urges coaches to make training sessions as real to the game for the players as they see it on a given match day.

Payne talked about how he was chosen for this project.

"As a senior National Staff Coach for the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America), I am involved in coaching education throughout the United States," said Payne. "Our associations' primary function is to provide the best in coaching education for all levels of soccer. In the past few years the NSCAA and SLS have joined to produce coaching videos to serve its members and others. It's quite an honor to be asked to do one as some of our staff are Anson Dorrance, University of North Carolina women's coach and 1991 World Cup winning coach, Also, Tony DiCicco, Olympic and World Cup winning coach, Schellas Hyndman, Southern Methodist University Men's Coach; Barry Gorman, Penn State Men's Coach and both Randy Waldrum of Notre Dame and Jerry Smith of Santa Clara who have captured NCAA Championships.

For Payne, being in front of the camera was bit unnerving at first, but he soon adapted to his new surroundings.

"I was a little nervous prior to the shoot, but once I got going I forgot about the cameras and just "coached", Payne commented. " The biggest adjustment was hearing the word "cut" and standing around waiting for cameras to be moved around. It helped that it was shot right outside Denver which provided for some great backdrops."

The video is available for purchase through www.soccervideos.com and through Amazaon.com.
