Bloomsburg Men's Soccer Defeated by SRU

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team fell to Slippery Rock University by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Slippery rock got on the board first when Raj Phanda fired a shot past Huskies goalkeeper David Leiendecker (Easton/Easton) to give Slippery Rock a 1-0 advantage. Bloomsburg would rebound when Eric Simonds (Sassamansville/Boyertown) put a penalty kick past the hands of The Rock's Greg Blum to knot the score at 1-1. The game would remain tied until the 89th minute, when Jeremy Deighton scored the game winner off an assist from Anthony Paganie to give The Rock the victory.

Tom Monagle (Langhorne/Conwell-Egan Catholic) had three shots on goal for Bloomsburg, while Leiendecker finished with a career-high 12 saves. With the loss, the Huskies fall to 5-5-4 for the season.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Wednesday night when they play host to Shepherd Univeristy. That game gets underway at 6:00 p.m.
