Bloomsburg Splits With Kutztown in Swimming

KUTZTOWN —The Bloomsburg University swim teams split with Kutztown University on Wednesday night. The women won 115-90, while the men lost 104-101.

For the women, Ashley Yelinek took first in the 200 free in a time of 2:01.04 and the 500 free in 5:26.05. In the 200 IM Kari Pokrzwya took first in 2:20.36, while in the 200 butterfly Lauren Sterkenberg took first in 2:17.21. In the 200 backstroke, Sara Lengler was first in 2:17.51. Bloomsburg also took first in the 400 medley relay in a time of 4:14.67 with Pokrzwya, Erin Carey, Courtney Dean and Becky Witwer swimming.

For the men, Andrew Wise was first in the 1000 free in 10:31.13, while Tom DiSalvatore was first in the 400 IM in 4:29.08. In the 100 free, Travis Backenstoe was first in 48.84, while Stephen Post took first in the 500 free in 5:02.74. In the men's 400-medley relay, the Huskies were first in 1:40.61 with Brandon Hilt, DiSalvatore, Jason Davis and Beckenstoe swimming for the Huskies.

The Bloomsburg women improved to 6-0 with the win, while the men fall to 1-3. Both teams visit West Chester this Saturday at 1 p.m.
