Bloomsburg Downs Lycoming in Men's Swimming

BLOOMSBURG —The Bloomsburg University men's swim team won its first dual meet of the season with a 117-87 win over Lycoming College Tuesday night.

The Huskies were nearly perfect in the meet winning nine of the 11 races. Chris Rumfelt (Shamokin/Shamokin) took first in the 100 free in 48.59 and the 200 free in 1:47.85. Also, Nicholas Prima (Glencoe, Trinidad) was also a two-time winner taking first in the 100 fly in 54.88 and the 200 IM in 2:07.28.

Others who picked up first place wins were Ken Smith (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) in the 1000 free in 10:56.76; Travis Backenstoe (Walnutport/Northampton) in the 50 free in 21.94; and Steve Post (Scranton/Scranton) in the 500 free in 5:06.11. Also, Brandon Palmer (Marysville/Susquenita) was a winner in the 100 breast in 1:06.04, while the 200 free relay team of Runmfelt, Post, Backenstoe and Travis Wagner (Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg) won in 1:30.68.

The Huskies are 1-0 on the year and will visit Ithaca on Saturday, Nov. 13th at 1 p.m.
