Bloomsburg Swimmers Open Season at Clarion

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim seasons started on Saturday at the Clarion Fall Classic. The women finished second out of seven teams, while the men were third of five teams.
For the men, Travis Beckenstoe was third in the 50-free in 22.40 and second in the 100 free in 50.51. Chris Rumfelt was second in the 500 free in 4:56.50, won the 400 IM in 4:34.57 and was second in the 200 free in 1:50.34. In the 1,650 free, Ken Smith was third in 19:09.09. In the 400 free relay, the Huskies took second in 3:23.32 and were first in the 200 medley relay in 1:42.41. The Huskies also took first in the 200 back relay in 1:30.69.
For the women, Ashley Yelinek was first in the 1,650 free in 18:48.77 and second in the 500 free in 5:29.79 with Lauren Sterkenberg took third in the 200 butterfly in 2:21.41. In the 100 back, Sara Engler was second in 1:04.04 with Ashley Koch third in 1:05.21 and Kari Pokrzwya fourth in 1:05.58. Engler was also third in the 400 IM in 4:34.57.
The Bloomsburg women will be back in action on Saturday at Mansfield starting at 11 a.m., while the men will host Lycoming on Nov. 2nd at 6 p.m.
