WEST CHESTER —The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams wrapped up the 2005 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships with some strong performances.

In the 1650-free for the women, Ashley Yelinek (Youngwood/Southmoreland) took third in 17:35.65. Her time was 18 seconds below her seed time. Also in that event, Ashley Kroh (Boyertown/Boyertown) was fourth in 17:41.72, 36 seconds below her seed time.

In the women's 200-back, Kari Pokrzywa (Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) was fourth in 2:08.44, while in the 100-free Dianna Smith (West Grove/Avon Grove) was fourth in 53.56. In the 200-fly, Lauren Sterkenberg (Lancaster/Hempfield) was 12th in 2:16.61.

In the women's 400-free relay, Courtney Dean (Lancaster/Hempfield), Emily Varley (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury), Jackie Gribbin (Richboro/Council Rock North) and Smith were fourth in a time of 3:36.99.

For the men, Ken Smith (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) took ninth in the 1650-free in a time of 17:18.93. Smith's time was nearly 29 seconds below his seed time. In the 200-breast, Mark Freeman (Bethlehem/Freedom) was 12th in 2:05.10, while in the 100-free, Travis Backenstoe (Walnutport/Northampton) was eighth in 48.20.

In the men's 400 free relay, the Huskies were fifth with a time of 3:12.60 with the team of Chris Rumfelt (Shamokin/Shamokin), Eric Weathers (Eagleville/Methacton), Steve Post (Scranton/Scranton) and Backenstoe swimming.
