Bloomsburg Gets Two, Top-Five Finishes on Day One of PSAC Swimming

DAY ONE RESULTS

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's swim team had two top-five finishes in the 1,000 free event on day one of the 2005 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships on Wednesday at West Chester University.

In the 1,000-free, the Huskies' Ashley Yelinek (Youngwood/Southmoreland) was fourth in 10:31.66, while Ashley Kroh (Boyertown/Boyertown) was fifth in a time of 10:36.97. Yelinek swam a consistent pace throughout the race turning in a fast lap of 28.74 seconds, while her slowest was just 32 seconds. Kroh, a freshman, had laps ranging from 28.85 to 32.68 for the 40-lap event.

For the men, Chris Rumfelt (Shamokin/Shamokin) was the Huskies' top finisher in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:56.03.

After day one, the women's team is in third place with 39 points, while the men are fifth with four points.

Action continues through Saturday at the PSAC championships.
