Bloomsburg Swimmers Qualify for NCAA Championships

BLOOMSBURG - Three members of the Bloomsburg University swim team qualified for the NCAA Championships at a last chance qualifying meet at the University of Maryland over the weekend.

For the men, junior Chris Rumfelt (Shamokin/Shamokin) qualified in the 200-free in a time of 1:40.63 while senior Travis Backenstoe (Walnutport/Northampton) swam a 20.78 to qualify in the 50-free.

On the women's side, sophomore Dianna Smith (West Grove/Avon Grove) qualified in the 200-free in 1:53.78.

Rumfelt, Backenstoe and Smith will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana on March 8-11 for the championship meet hosted by Indiana University.
