Bloomsburg's Ashley Yelinek Takes Second in 1000-Free at PSAC Championships

CLARION --The Bloomsburg University women's team in third place after day one of the 2006 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships being held at Clarion University.

The Huskies total 33 points after day one, while the men's team is fifth with seven points.

In the only event of the night, Bloomsburg's Ashley Yelinek (Youngwood/Southmoreland) finished took second in the 1000-free in a time of 10:32.35. She finished second by less than a second to West Chester's Eszter Balazs. The second place finish is the best finish in the event for Yelinek in PSAC championship competition after taking fourth a year ago.

For the men, Steve Post (Scranton/Scranton) finished seventh in the 1000-free event in a time of 10:03.11, 17 seconds faster than his seed time.

The PSAC championships will continue through Saturday, February 18th with a total 19 events each for both the women's and men's championships.

There will be five events on Thursday including the 200 free relay, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 400 medley relay. The prelims begin at 10am, with the finals starting Thursday night at 6pm.
