Bloomsburg Men's Swim Team Falls to Edinboro
RESULTS
EDINBORO- The Bloomsburg University men's swim team lost to Edinboro University on Saturday 156-106.
In their first collegiate dual swim meet, freshman Joe Bentz (York /York Suburban),Dereck Fritz (Stevens /Epherata), and Kyle Weisenbach (Avon Grove /Lincoln University) had an impressive debut. Bentz placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:03.29), second in the 200 individual medley (2:10.90) and the 1000 freestyle (10:32.99). Fritz placed first in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:52.42.Weisenbach placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.61) and a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.12).
Other top finishers were Mike Williams (Huntingdon Valley /Lower Moreland) who took first place in the 200 butterfly (2:06.54) and second in the 100 butterfly (56.83). Kevin Weikert finished second behind Williams in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:16.97. Mark Freeman (Bethlehem /Freedom) had a second place finish in the 100 backstroke in a time of 58.62 and also had a third place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:08.87. Steve Withers (Doylestown /Central Bucks West) also had two third place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (10:49.00) and the 200 freestyle (1:53.10). Bret Palmer (Marysville /Susquenita) finished second in the 50 freestyle in a time of 23.21 and Tom Chlebda (Perkasie/Pennridge) finished second in the 100 freestyle (51.70) to help the Huskies.
The men and women's swim team will travel to Ithaca this Saturday for a 1:00p.m. meet.
