BU Swim Teams Lose to Kutztown


Results

KUTZTOWN--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams lost to Kutztown University on Saturday. The women lost by a score of 115-90, while the men dropped the meet 122-81.

On the men's side, Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) was the Huskies lone first place finisher grabbing the top spot in the 200-fly in 2:02.69, while also producing a third place finish in the 1000-free in a time of 10:22.40. John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) was second in the 1000-free in a 10:22.32 and third in 500-free in 5:06.06.

In the 200-free Steve Withers (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) was second in 1:50.14, while in the 50-free Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) was second in 23.25 with David Mancinelli (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) third in 23.27 seconds. In the 200-IM, Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College) was second in 2:03.76, while in the 100-free Mancinelli was second in 50.02 seconds.

In the 200-backstroke, DeLorenzo was second in 2:06.42 with Straub third in 2:07.47. Ben Safran (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) also had a third place finish in the 200-fly in 2:06.55.

In the women's meet, Dianna Smith (West Grove/Avon Grove) had her second straight meet with two first place finishes taking first in the 100-free in 55.26 and the 200-free in 1:58.67. In the 50-free event, Ali Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) was first in a time of 25.62, while in the 100-free, Reed was second in a time of 55.52.

Sara Hippelli (Quakertown/Quakertown) had a pair of second place finishes for Bloomsburg with one coming in the 1000-free in 10:59.53 and the other in the 500-free in 5:25.85. In the 200-breast, Kellie Ayres (Gilbertsville/Boyertown) was second in 2:35.03, while Jess Gribbin (Richboro/Council Rock North) was third in the 500-free in 5:30.36.

Taking third in the 200-free was Nicole Chinnici (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) in 2:02.47, while in the 200-fly Amy Usciak (Lancaster/Hempfield) was third in 2:23.27. In the 200-IM, Lisa Ferrigno (West Chester/Bishop Shanahan) finished third in 2:21.22, while in the 200-backstroke was Liz Tesoro (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) in 2:21.10.
