BU Swim Teams Lose to Shippensburg
Results
BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams faced off against Shippensburg University on Friday. The Bloomsburg women lost to the Lady Raiders by a score of 116-89, while the Bloomsburg men lost 108-85.
For the Bloomsburg men, Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) had a first and second place finish to lead the Huskies. Straub was first in the 50-free in 22.99 seconds and second in the 100-free in 49.93. John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) had a first place finish in the 500-free in 5:04.47 and was third in 200-free in 1:53.26. Steve Withers (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) finished second in the 1000-free in 10:24.72, while Juan Castaneda (Shamokin/Shamokin) was second in the 50-free in 23.36.
Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College) had a second and third place finish. He was second in the 200-back in 2:05.70 and third in the 400-IM in 4:28.04.
In the women's meet, Dianna Smith (West Grove/Avon Grove) had two first places to lead the Huskies. Smith took first in the 50-free in 24.97 and was first in the 100-free in 54.02. Ali Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) was a first place finisher in the 200-free in 1:58.65 and was third in the 100-free in 54.67.
In the 200-breast stroke, Kellie Ayres (Gilbertsville/Boyertown) was first in 2:33.31, while in the 400-IM Ayres was third in 4:59.04 Also, in the 1000-free Sara Hippelli (Quakertown/Quakertown) was second in 11:12.22, while in the 500-free Jess Gribbin (Richboro/Council Rock North) was second in 5:30.81. In the 200-back Liz Tesoro (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) was third in 2:18.24 with Lisa Ferrigno (West Chester/Bishop Shanahan) third in the 200-free 2:03.65.
Both teams swim at Kutztown on Saturday at 1 p.m.
