2008-09 Men's Swimming Preview

BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams swam in a meet at Edinboro on Saturday.

The Bloomsburg men defeated Edinboro 88-34 and West Virginia Wesleyan 80-42. The women's team defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 169-93 and lost to Edinboro 177-85 and California (Pa.) 160-101.

On the men's side, John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) took first in two events, the 100-free (10:09) and the 500-free (1:25). Steve Withers (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) placed first in the 200-free (1:48) and Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) finished first in the 100-back (55 seconds), while Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) took first in the 200-fly (2:04) and Juan Castaneda (Shamokin/Shamokin Area) placed first in the 100-fly (54 seconds).

On the women's side, Sara Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) finished first in the 200-back (2:15) and third in the 100- back (1:02). Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/Quakertown) placed second in the 1000-free (10:53) and third in the 500- free (5:23), while Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) finished second in the 200-IM (2:17) and third in the 200-breast (2:33).

Bloomsburg will host Albright on Friday, November 14th at 6:00pm.
