Huskies Sweep Meet from Albright

BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams were both victorious on Friday with Albright. The men won 124.5-65.5, while the women's team won 124-75.

For the men, John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) led the way with two first place finishes and a second place finish. King took first in the 1000-free in 10:03.95 and in the 200-fly in a conference championship qualifying time of 2:01.00, with which he also enters the Bloomsburg University All-time Top Ten in the event. His second place finish was in the 500-free with a time of 5:05.67.

In addition, Ryan Lightner (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) took first in the 50-free in a time of 22.64. David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmont Hilltop) finished first in the 100-free with a time of 50.02, and Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) took first in the 200-IM in 2:05.77, while Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) was first in the 200-free in 1:51.25 and Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College) finished first in the 200-back in a time of 2:02.94.

For the women, Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) and Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/Quakertown) were two-time first place finishers for the Huskies. Grawe took first in the 50-free in a time of 25.29 and in the 200-back in 2:16.18, while Hippeli placed first in the 500-free with a time of 5:26.83 and in the 1000-free in 11:04.87.

Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and had a first and second place finish, taking first in the 200-free with a time of 2:02.79 and second in the 500-free in 5:29.29. Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) had a first place finish in the 200-IM with a time of 2:17.81 and Amy Usciak (Lancaster/ Hempfield) took first in the 200-fly in 2:02.43.

Bloomsburg is back in action on Jan. 24th hosting East Stroudsburg at 1:00 p.m.
