Men's Drops Close Match to Ithaca; Women's Team Also Fall to Bombers

ITHACA, NY-- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams both suffered defeats on Saturday to the Ithaca College Bombers. The men lost a close match 153-141, while the women fell 187-107.
For the men, sophomore John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) was a two-time winner for the Huskies taking first in the 1000-free in 10:44.18 and the 500 free in 4:50.29. King also had a second place finish in the 200-free in 1:48.28. Freshman Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville/Souderton) was also a two-time victor for the Huskies sweeping both the 100 and 200-breast stroke events. In the 100 he swam a time of 1:03.58, while in the 200 he finished in 2:19.78. Bloomsburg also took first in the 200-fly with Ben Safran (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) swimming a 2:03.97.
Picking up three second place finishes was Kyle Weisnbach (Lincoln University, Pa./Avon Grove) who was runner-up in the 1000-free in 10:46.11, the 100-breat in 1:04.91 and the 200-breast in 2:21.78. Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) had a second place finish in the 200-fly in a time of 2:04.03 and a third place finish in the 1000-free in 10:46.65.
For the women, Sara Hippelli (Quakertown/Quakertown) finished first in the 1000-free in 11:09.13 and was third in the 500-free in 5:26.55. Liz Tesoro (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) also had a first and third place finish taking first in the 100-fly in 1:04.09 and third in the 100-back in 1:04.51. Amy Usciak (Lancaster/Hempfield) was first for Bloomsburg in the 200-fly in 2:21.66, while Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) was second in the 100-back in 1:02.76; the 50-free in 25.93 and the 200-back in 2:16.32.
The Huskies host the College of New Jersey on Nov. 21st at 5 p.m. at the Nelson Pool.
