Dorsch, Lightner and King Lead BU Men to Win; McNeil and Steel Lead Women

BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams split their meet on Saturday with Kutztown. The men won 146-111, while the women's team lost 155-105.

For the men, Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville/Souderton Area), Ryan Lightner (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) and John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) were two-time winners for the Huskies. Dorsch took first in the 100-breast in a time of 1:02.10 and the 200-breast in a time of 2:18.16. Lightner was first in the 50-free in 22.34 seconds and the 100-free in 49.96. King swept the longer distances for the Huskies winning the 500-free in 4:49.63 and the 1000-free in 9:58.54.

In addition, Steve Withers (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) was first in the 200-free in 1:48.21, while Ben Safran (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) was first in the 200-fly in 2:02.96 with Juan Castaneda (Shamokin/Shamokin Area) first in the 100-fly in 54.62. Withers also took third in the 500-free in 5:00.48. David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmont Hilltop) had two second place finishes. He was second in the 50-free in 22.63 and the 100-free in 22.63.

For the women, Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) had a first and second place finish to lead the way, while Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) had a pair of second place finishes.

Steel finished first in the 200-free in 2:021.21 and was second in the 500-free in 5:23.06. For McNeil she was second in the 200-breast in 2:30.69 and the 200-IM in 2:18.79. Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) was second in the 50-free in 25.78 and third in the 100-back in 1:02.31. Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/Quakertown) had a second place finished in the 1000-free in 10:59.38 and was third in the 500-free in 5:23.25.

Bloomsburg is back in action on Jan. 23rd hosting Albright at 6 p.m.
