John King Sets Second School Record in Four Days

MECHANICSBURG--John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) set his second school record in the last four days to lead the Huskies men's swim team to a fifth place finish at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships on Sunday. For the women's team, Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/Stafford) finished sixth in the 200-back, while Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/Quakertown) was eighth in the 1650 -free to help the Huskies finished 10th overall.

King, who set a school record in the 1000-free on Thursday, ended the championship event by swimming a 16:25.32, breaking his own record by more than four seconds. His time was also good enough for NCAA "B" cut time.

In the 200-back, Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College) took fifth in 1:55.78, the second fastest time in school history. DeLorenzo also swam a top-five time in the prelims with a time of 1:56.63. Finishing eighth was Erik Stefferud (West Chester/Henderson) in 1:57.72, while Steve Withers (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) took 12th in 2:00.43. In the Sunday prelims, Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) also swam a top-10 time with a mark of 2:00.79.

In the 100-free, David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmount Hilltop) took 12th in 47.93, while in the 200-breast, Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville/Souderton), finished seventh in 2:11.52, the fourth fastest time in school history with Kyle Weisenbach (Lincoln University/Avon Grove).was ninth in the 200-breast in 2:11.13. In the 200-fly, Juan Castaneda (Shamokin/Shamokin) finished sixth with the second fastest time in school history with a mark of 1:56.20. Earlier in the day, Castaneda swam what turned out to be the third fastest time in school history in 1:56.45.

For the women, Grawe finished sixth in the 200-back in a time of 2:07.81, the second fastest mark in school history and an NCAA "B" cut time. Earlier in the day Grawe swam what was then the second best time in school history with a time a mark of 2:08.42.

In the 1650-free, Hippeli swam a 17:55.29 to take eighth place, a time also good for an NCAA "B" cut time. In the 200-back, Ashley Carroll (Mohnton/Schuylkill Valley) finished ninth in 2:14.84, cutting nearly two seconds off of her time from the prelims.
