Tyler DeLorenzo Breaks School Record in 400-IM

Day Three Finals

MECHANICSBURG--A school-record and some lifetime best swims highlighted the action for the Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams on day three of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships.

In the morning prelims on Saturday, Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College) shattered the team record in the 400-IM with a swim of 4:14.19 breaking the old mark of 4:17.00 by nearly three seconds. On Friday, DeLorenzo just missed out on the school's 200-IM record by two-tenths of a second. In the finals Saturday night, DeLorenzo finished eighth in 4:17.64 to earn All-PSAC honors.

In the 100-fly finals, Juan Castaneda finished fifth to earn All-PSAC honors with the second fastest time in school history, 51.10 seconds and an NCAA "B" cut time. Mike Bierds (Malvern/West Chester) took 11th in the 100-fly in 52.83 seconds, and Erik Stefferud (West Chester/Henderson) was 12th in 52.94.

In the 100-breast finals, Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville/Souderton), took 10th place with a time of 59.95 seconds, just the second Bloomsburg swimmer in school history to break 60 seconds in the event.

In the 100-back finals, Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) took fifth in 53.54 seconds, the fourth fastest time in school history. In the prelims on Saturday morning, he swam a 53.16, second best in school history.

Other members of the members of the men's team swimming lifetime personal bests in the prelims were Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) in the 400-IM, David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmount Hilltop) in the 200-free, Ryan Lightner (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) in the 100-back, and Kyle Weisenbach (Lincoln University/Avon Grove).

WOMEN

For the women on Saturday, Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/Stafford) finished 11th overall in the 100-back with a time of 1:00.05, the fifth-fastest in school history. In the prelims on Saturday morning, Grawe turned in a swim of 59.88 seconds, third best in school history.

Also swimming lifetime personal bests in the prelims were Ashley Carroll (Mohnton/Schuylkill Valley) in the 100-back, Danielle Wrecsics (Coopersburg/Palisades) in the 100-fly, Nicole Chinnici (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) in the 200-free and Liz Tesoro (Doylestown/Central Bucks West), in the 200-free.

Action will conclude on Sunday at the PSAC championships.
