Swim Teams Fall to Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams lost to Shippensburg on Friday night. The men lost 151-106, while the women lost 153.5-103.5.

On the men's side Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) took first in the 100-back in 55.77 with Ryan Lightner (Lebanon/Cedar Crest), taking third in 56.80. In the 400-IM, Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) finished first in 4:26.28. Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville/Souderton Area) had two second place finishes, one in the 100-breast in 1:03.31 and the second in the 200-breast in 2:21.10. In the 200-fly Erik Stefferud (West Chester/West Chester Henderson) was second in 2:04.85 with Ben Safran (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) third in 2:04.90.

In the 100-free Ryan Alichwer (Boiling Springs/Boiling Springs) was third in 51.06, while in the 200-back Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College) was third in 2:05.26. In the 50-free David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmont Hilltop) was third in 22:50 with Stephen Boris (State College/State College) third in the 200-breast in 2:21.49.

On the women's side, Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) had two first place finishes, one in 100-back in 1:02.80 and the other in the 200-backstroke in 2:15.53. In the 200-breast Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) took first in 2:33.80 and was second in the 100-breast in 1:11.79.

Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/Quakertown) had a second place finish in the 500-free in a time of 5:23.53 and was third in 200-free in 2:02.73. In the 1000-free Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was second in 11:09.41, while in the 200-butterfly Ashley Carroll (Mohnton/Schuylkill Valley) was third in 2:23.69. In the 50-free Nicole Chinnici (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) was third in 26.55, while in the 200-back Stacey Henry (Bessemer/Kennedy Catholic) was third in 2:21.86.

The Huskies are back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. hosting Kutztown.
