Huskies Turn in Solid Meet With College of New Jersey

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams lost to the College of New Jersey on Friday night at the Nelson Field House pool. The women lost 112-93, while the men lost 121.5 -82.5.
In the women's meet, Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) took first in the 200 IM in 2:16.09, while Sara Hippelli (Quakertown/Quakertown) was first in the 500-free in 5:19.59. Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) also took first in the 200-freee in1:59.60 and was second in the 500-free in 5:20.95.
Swimming times making them eligible for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships were Emily Stiles (Lansdale/North Penn) in the 1000-free (11:05.02) and the 400-IM (4:51.20); Kellie Ayres (Gilbertsville/Boyertown) in the 400-IM (4:52.39); Brianna Globig (New Kensington/Plum) in the 1000-free (11:10.68); Amy Usciak (Lancaster/Hempfield) in the 200-fly (2:17.49) and Liz Tesoro (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) in the 100-back (1:02.30). Stiles time in the 1000-free was also a lifetime best in the event, while Kelly Duggan's (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) time of 1:14.26 in the 100-breast was also a personal best in the event.
For the men, John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) took first in both the 1000-free in a lifetime personal best of 9:57.87 and the 500-free in 4:52.51. Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) took first in the 100-back in 54.94 seconds, while David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmont Hilltop) was second in the 100-free in 49.70 seconds.
In addition, Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College) and Kyle Weisenbach (Lincoln University/Avon Grove) swam PSAC-qualifying times of 4:31.99 and 4:33.20, respectively.
