Bloomsburg Falls to West Chester in Men's and Women's Swimming

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams lost to West Chester on Saturday on Senior Day for the Huskies. The men lost 143-114, while the women lost 143-113.

Before the meet the Huskies honored the senior members of its teams; Steve Withers (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) for the men and Allie Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove), Britnie Spaunhorst (Lake Ariel/Wallenpaupack), Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/Quakertown), Stacey Henry (Bessemer/Kennedy Catholic) and Liz Tesoro (Doylestown/Central Bucks West).

In the men's meet, John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) took home a first and second place to lead the Huskies. King took first in the 1000-free in 10:00.94 and was second in the 200-fly in 2:01.74. In the 100-back Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) was first in 56.49, while Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) was first in the 500-free in 5:03.50. Ryan Alichwer (Boiling Springs/Boling Springs) was also a first place winning take top honors in the 200-IM in 2:03.07.

In women's action, the Huskies Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) led the way with a pair of first place finishes. Grawe was first in the 100-back in 1:02.42 and the 200-back in 2:15.58. In the 100-breast Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) was first in 1:08.94, while Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was second in the 1000-free in 10:57.85, while Tesoro was second in the 100-back in 1:03.42.

The Huskies will be back in the water for the PSAC championships on Feb. 19-22.
