SWIMMING ALUMNI WEEKEND TO BE HELD

Make plans to come to campus for Swimming Alumni Weekend, October 2-4, 2009. There are several activities planned to help "reach across the years" and embrace the history of Bloomsburg Swimming.

Friday Night, October 2nd at 6:00 pm - Bloomsburg University Athletic Hall of Fame Induction

Come celebrate the achievements of Stephanie Humphries Campbell '95, as she becomes the 11th swimmer to be inducted into the BU Athletic Hall of Fame. Steph swam for The Great Dave Rider and was an 8-time NCAA All American, winning 5 PSAC Championship titles in 100 & 200 fly. She was named the BU Outstanding Female Senior Athlete of the Year in 1995 and still holds the team record in the 100 fly. For information on attending the induction ceremony, contact Tom McGuire / BU Sports Information Director at tmcguire@bloomu.edu

Saturday Morning, October 3rd at 12:00 Noon - Alumni Swim Meet

The Alumni Swim Meet is set for 12:00 noon at the newly re-furbished Nelson Field House Pool. The pool will be open for warm up at 11:00. Please arrive no later than 11:30 so we have time to check everyone in. Swimming is not mandatory, so there is no excuse for not joining in the fun. For those who choose to swim, we will divide the current team and all returning alumni into two teams: Maroon & Gold. Events will include a 50 of every stroke and the meet will be scored by age group. Anyone who participates will be able to contribute to their team's points, no matter what your age or condition! Let us know via email (Stu Marvin) if you are coming so we can start to gather information on everyone.

Saturday Afternoon, October 3rd at 2:00 pm - Alumni Social

Following the meet we will gather down the hill at Alumni House for a luncheon/social. Cost for the event will be $15.00. Please go to the BU Alumni website or call (800-526-0254) to register so they can get a rough idea of who will be attending. For those of you who have never been there, Alumni House is a great place to meet and swap stories from the past.

Saturday Evening, October 3rd at 5:00 pm - BU Football vs. Millersville

Our nationally ranked Bloomsburg Huskies will take on PSAC rival Millersville at Redman Stadium. Come watch one of the best NCAA D2 teams in recent years, your BU Huskies, make another run at the NCAA playoffs.

Sunday Afternoon, October 4th at 1:30 pm - Eli McLaughlin, "A Celebration of Life"

This past July, long-time BU Men's Swimming Coach, Eli McLaughlin, lost his battle with cancer. Please join his family, friends and many former swimmers in a "Celebration of Life" at the Bower Memorial United Methodist Church in Berwick. The celebration will begin at 1:30 PM and will be followed by a fellowship in the church annex. Please direct any questions to the swimming office at 570-389-4362.
