Bloomsburg Swimmers Ranked in NCAA Top 25

BLOOMSBURG- Members of the Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams are ranked in the NCAA Division II Top 25 poll by collegeswimming.com.

Freshman Madeline Barlow (Yardley/Pennsbury) is currently ranked sixth in the 200-IM, 11th in the 200-backstroke, and 13th in the 100-butterfly, while sophomore Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) is ranked 22nd in the 200-breaststroke. Barlow holds two Bloomsburg University swimming records in the 200-IM and the 200-butterfly, while McNeil holds the second fastest time in school history for the 200-breastroke.

Four relays from the women's team also made the top 25 rankings. Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford), McNeil, Barlow and Allie Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) are ranked 21st in the 200-medley relay and 15th in the 400-medley relay. The women's 200-free relay team of Laura McNair (Duncansville/Hollidaysburg), Nicole Chinnici (Vineland, NJ/Vineland), Grawe, and Reed took the 23rd spot, while the 400-free relay team of Grawe, Julia DeVincent (Maple Glen/Upper Dublin), Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and Reed are ranked 17th in Division II.

From the men's team, junior Juan Castaneda (Shamokin/Shamokin Area) is currently ranked 16th in the 100-butterfly. Castaneda holds the school swimming record in the 100-butterfly.

Four relays from the men's team also made the rankings. Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson), Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville/Souderton Area), Castaneda, and David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmont Hilltop) are ranked 18th in the 400-medley relay, while the 200-free relay team of Mancinelli, Straub, Mike Bierds (Malvern/West Chester East), and Ryan Lightner (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) are ranked 19th. The 200-medley relay team of Lightner, Nick Ortlieb (North Wales/North Penn), Castaneda, and Mancinelli took the 23rd spot, while the 400-free relay team of Mancinelli, Lightner, Shane Stinedurf (Martinsburg/Central), and Straub hold the 25th spot.

The men's and women's swim teams will compete in the PSAC Championships in Chambersburg, Pa. from February 18-21.
