Huskies Swim Well at West Chester
WEST CHESTER--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams lost to West Chester on Saturday. The men lost 146-111, while the women lost by a score of 146-116.
In the women's meet, the Huskies started the day off winning the 400-medley relay in a time of 4:03.31 with the team of Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/Stafford), Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area), Madeline Barlow (Yardley/Pennsbury), and Allie Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove).
Reed also earned a first place finish in the 50-free in 25.51 seconds and was second in the 100-free in 54.78. Grawe was second in the 100-back in 1:02.72 and third in the 100-free in 55.71 seconds.
McNeil was first in both the 200-breast in 2:29.85 and the 200-IM in 2:16.58, while Barlow was first in the 200-back in 2:11.52. Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) took first in the 1000-free in 10:55.55 and was second in the 500-free in 5:21.51.
In the men's meet, John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) was first in the 1000-free in 10:12.16, while in the 200-fly Ben Safran (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) led a 1-2-3 finish for the Huskies with a time of 2:03.40. Right behind Safran was Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) in 2:03.84, while Erik Stefferud (West Chester/West Chester Henderson) was third in 2:09.20. In the 200-IM Jeremy Frey (Pipersville/Central Bucks East) took first in 2:03.10 and was also second in the 200-free in 1:49.10.
In the 100-breast, Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville/Souderton) was second in 1:02.49 with Nick Ortlieb (North Wales/North Penn) third in 1:03.58. In the 100-back Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College Area) took second in 57.34 with Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) third in 1:03.58.
The Huskies swim next week at Kutztown with Edinboro and Mansfield.
