BLOOMSBURG— Bloomsburg University men's tennis players Kris Shumway (Troy/Towanda) and Alex Kalezic (Belgrade,Yugoslavia) were defeated in the championship round of the ITA Eastern Regional Championships Monday.

Shumway and Kalezic, seeded second, lost to the top seeded team from Assumption College, Sean Kenney and Ryan Richert, by a score of 8-5.

In singles play, Kalezic was defeated in the semifinal round by Mukumdam Namdakum of Kutztown, 6-2, 6-3. Namdakum then lost in the finals to Kenney of Assumption, 6-1, 6-0.

The winners of both the “A” draw singles and doubles will now advance to the ITA Small College National Championships in Texas, Oct. 18-21.

Erin Bartsch will represent the Bloomsburg women after winning the women's “A” draw singles event last week.
